When are you guys planning to have all the stuff set up? like baby swing, playpen, gates, ect. I'm not sure when I should start doing all that, I was thinking soon so our puppy (55lbs dog so not really a pup but still young lol) could get used to it, I'm thinking to have all that done by 35 weeks, is that too early??

The only one of those things I really use when the baby is a newborn is the swing. The gates and playpen I don't use until the baby is crawling around. I think setting the stuff up early to help the dog get adjusted is a good idea. I will probably wait until we need the stuff because I would rather have the extra room in the house and we don't have pets

We're only gonna use the gates to block off the living room and family room from the rest of the house. Thats where all the baby stuff will be and I dont want the dog going in there. We only use the playpen this early cause it has the little "basinet" attachment thing you can put inside, which is great for naps.

we are moving in a few weeks so we will be setting up the pack n play and washing and putting away the baby clothing then. I will probably wait until after baby is home to have DH set up the swing. We are going quite minimalist this time around. I'm not using much. We will already have gates out for the stairs because of the mobile kiddos but if I didnt need the gates for them, I wouldnt put gates out until this baby was getting around.

Should I be embarrassed that the nursery is complete? Swing and bouncy are put together, and clothing is all washed? I even washed the bottles and have them put away even though I plan on BFing. I have her hospital bag packed as well mine will be last minute I'm sure. Oh man... And I am only 34 weeks!

I was just telling DH last night that I'd like to set up the swing in the living room in a few weeks, probably around 34-35 weeks. That way DD will get used to the new arrangement in the living room and mostly so that the cats have time to check it out and I can hopefully get it so that they do not climb into it.

lol!!! omg I'm so jealous!!! I'm sure i'd have all that done too if DH wasnt so busy! He told me he woud finally set up the crib and move the furniture in its right place tonight. so the nursery will be done by friday since I'm sure I'll spend all day tomorrow and friday doing all the little details lol. Our swing and stuff is all set up, but still in the storage room, so i just have to give the living room and family room a good cleaning , re arrange some furniture and move them up!

I've done it differently every time. With DS2 I set everything up probably right around now so that DS1 would know not to mess around with the baby things. I used the playpen for DS2 a lot so that he would have somewhere safe I could set him down where DS1 wouldn't run him over. I also would put his little swing/vibrating chair in there for the same reason. I use play pens a lot. Anyway, this go around I still have everything set up because of DS2 (who is 20 months). I'm not sure what I'm going to do when DD gets here because right now the play pen is his time out area.
