2 vessel cord?? dr. called.

They called to give me the results from my u/s last week. Good news is, that the 2 clots are smaller, so they're being absorbed, which is great. Now to move on with the new issue. There was only 2 vessels in the cord, when theres normally 3. I dont know much about this, but from my dr told me, its nothing I should be concerned about, it will just require more u/s to make sure the baby is growing well. He said that babies only need 2 vessels in the cord, and from what i read online its not as uncommon as I thought. He said the high risk dr will call me by friday to schedule a cardiac u/s to have a closer look, but so far it looks fine. The baby was perfect size and everything else seems perfectly normal.

I did ask why I wasnt put on any medication for my high ANA, and he said that only some problems with ANA need to be treated with medication. Since I had seen a specialist and that I was cleared with any other problem cause or associated with high ANA, medication wasnt required.

Needless to say, its just one thing after another, and after he called I just broke down. I dont know how much more I can take. Has anyone else ever heard of/ had a 2 vessel cord? I'd like to get some more info on it, but my DH has stopped me from googling...

I'd definitely stop googling it--you won't find anything useful for you. My cousin in law had this issue, and I've also had a few people on my birth clubs have the issue as well. It is not something to worry about! They'll just keep an extra close eye on you. I know you can't necessarily not worry about it, but in the scheme of issues that you could have this is nothing. You'll get to see baby more! :) Cheer up!

I'm trying to stay positive. DH and I decided we were going to go on as if everything will be fine. We will be starting the nursery in a few weeks, and hopefully it'll help me stay excited and happy

*hugs!!!* I have no experience but I would trust in your doctor that it isn't much to be concerned about. I know it's hard given your past history but I would believe that your doctor really would try to ease your mind the best as possible but be honest with you since you have dealt with so much. No meds is a good thing! As long as baby is growing and thriving, rest easy. More ultrasounds can only be that much more reassuring! Keep your chin up!!

But I also know how the blow after blow feels. We had that with our last pregnancy, not all was baby related, some was me, but it felt like we couldn't catch a break, not even at the birth. But we all made it safely and healthily. You will too!

My Aunt's DD only had a 2 vessel cord too. She had to have a few more U/S's throughout the pregnancy just to check on things but baby was healthy and is a happy, healthy 1yr old now.

((Hugs)) I'm sure it's hard to go through all of this especially after all that you've been through. But I'm with everyone else, your doctor would be honest with you and more ultrasounds mean more reassurance. I know that it's really tough, but try to stay positive. They're keeping a close eye on you and your little girl to make sure you're both healthy.

Aww I am sorry that you have yet another thing to stress about. I have heard of many people having a 2 vessel cord and the baby was completely fine.

We just got poor ultrasound results too so I understand how scary and nerve-wracking it can be not knowing if you will have a baby to bring home with you. Try to stay positive! ((hugs))
