Insomnia
10
Wed, 12-07-2011 - 7:40am

I am having insomnia off and on. I wake up to go to the bathroom around 2:30 every night. Some nights I can't get back to sleep. I lay there and try but after about 30 mins to an hour I am up. This of course makes me feel fatigued for the day and it's not always possible to nap as my four year old doesn't always want to cooperate.

I can remember with my last pg I would wake up at midnight to eat a bowl of Frosted Shredded Wheats every night during the third trimester. But here I am a month away from reaching the third and it's already started. At least I get some knitting done.

Are you having trouble sleeping? What do you do?

I am having trouble too, but usually wake up around 4-6 and have a problem falling back to sleep after the requisite potty break :) I also have a hard time catching a nap because, though my 4 year old will stay in his room, he thumps around and makes a ton of noise right above my room. It can be hard to chill out and relax. Mine hasn't reached the 3rd trimester type of insomnia yet. I dread that. It gets rough when you can't sleep and can't nap. I feel for you :( Maybe try taking a relaxing bath at night?

yes - this happens midway through all of my pregnancies.

I keep my phone next to my bed so I lay there in the dark and look through Facebook or Pinterest or play Angry Birds - it passes some time but looking at that bright screen in the dark makes me feel like closing my eyes again.

yes!! I have learned not to turn the light on either. Fortunately, we have a window in our bathroom so it's not completely blackedout but turning the light on is the deal breaker for sure.

I've had off and on insomnia the whole time, so I feel for you. Since I've been on my thyroid medication, it's been easier. What would keep me up is that darn round ligament pain if I try to roll over from side to side and I don't do it slowly. But, then there are nights that I am tired enough to just fall into bed and go to sleep, but once my head hits the pillow, I can't. A warm bath helps me or reading a book.

I have about 2 potty wakes per night, but thank god I can usually get back to sleep pretty quickly. I agree though, turning on the bathroom right will be the end of it!

I know exactly what you mean about having to turn over slowly! I just noticed last night that this ligament pain had started again for me too. It usually is a real bear for me as time goes on. I always forget, too.

I've been waking between 4 and 5 to go to the bathroom and I have trouble getting back to sleep after that.
