Swelling AFTER giving birth?

This sucks! I didn't swell up that much when I was pregnant, even at the end it was mostly in the morning and it would go away after being up for awhile. But now 5 days after delivery, my feet & ankles are so swollen it almost hurts! Has this happened to anyone else? Propping them up helps them feel a bit better, but the swelling doesn't go down much. And when I walk around it just gets worse. I'm thinking on Monday I'll call my dr. and see if I can get diuretics or something. Any suggestions? I'm already drinking tons of water and staying away from salt. Help!

LOL good 'ol tarsals and metatarsals, where oh where have you gone? :) Obviously I haven't delivered yet but I expect I might have nasty swelling post-delivery this time as I am poofy, poofy, poofy right now.

Last week I told my hubby ...oh i forgot about those bones on the top of your feet that go to your toes...

I haven't seen them in a long time. Seriously

YES! Even 5 wks later, I'm still dealing with it! But right after, it was BAD! I wonder if it was so bad for me due to constant trips to NICU before I was discharged then going daily to the NICU.

This is me right now. My feet are so swollen they jiggle. My doc said it should prove in a week or so. I certainly hope so!

It's normal to have swelling after birth. It usually can last up to 2 weeks. Make sure you drink plenty of water and try to stay off of your feet as much as possible. Just think of how much IV fluids they pump you up with plus your body needs some time to readjust after birth.

I swelled terrible after my first. Awful like you are saying. I had to prop everything up, drink tons of water, and make sure i took short jaunts to move around every hour or so. I hope it goes away soon for you.

I had really, really bad swelling of my whole lower body after my DS. Like, I could barely bend my legs because my thighs and calves were that big. I think it was from all the IV fluids. I eventually peed it all out! Lol. It was such a massive difference over one day, I mustve lost 10 pounds that day, no joke. It was probably a week after delivery or so.
