Weight Gain...Having Trouble Gaining Weight

So I always have a hard time gaining weight. And while some people may see this as a blessing I struggle with it. I always hear comments of how I look too skinny and how I need to eat more. I track my daily caloric intake and seem to be on par with how much I should be eating with a moderate activity level.

I've only gained 12 lbs so far and am worried about reaching the 25 lb mark. I know it's more of a guideline and they say if you don't reach it or you go a little over it's fine. But I worry about not gaining enough and having an underweight baby. With my first and third pg I gained between 23-25 lbs and both came out healthy weight. With

I am also a naturally slender person and I am having a hard time gaining weight this pregnancy. I was really sick for the first 4 months of this pregnancy and I have just started gaining. So far I am up about 5 lb and hopefully now that I am not so ill I will continue going in the right direction.

Have you considered drinking any of those weight gain shakes like Ensure? My son was having some weight gain issues after an illness and the doctors recommended he have one of those a day. Other suggestions given to us to help his weight gain were to feed him full fat dairy products, avocado and nuts. Also cooking with olive oil to add some healthy fats. Good luck!

I think there is a different between unhealthy fats and healthy fats. The fats found in nuts and avocado are healthy and should not lead to obesity.

Yes you are right just like with olive oil. I need to get some more chestnuts from the Asian market since none of the grocery stores have them. Chestnuts are very healthy. I think I will try using more olive oil in cooking.

I've only gained 10lbs but I'm assuming most of the weight will come at the end as it was that way with my daughter.

I think a lot of it just depends on your body and how you gain during pregnancy, but I can understand your concern since you had your last at a lower weight. My SIL gained very slowly with her daughter but she is a small, slender girl. I usually gain the majority of my weight in the last trimester. Maybe the olive oil with help you out some? I use it to cook everything all the time. I never use corn oil except when baking calls for it. It sure makes good sweet potato fries...yum!

If your doc isn't worried I wouldn't be, I'm down 14lbs right now, my 2nd pregnancy I lost 30lbs and she was almsot 9lbs and my 2nd I lost 25 and he was 7lbs. I am not overweight either.
