Car Seats Revisited

One of the last things we need ot get is a car seat. We are not planning to use it as a carrier--just a vehicle transportation system. What are your thoughts on getting one with a detachable base vs. with a molded base?

I've always like the detachable based ones as the ones with the molded bases don't feel as stable when installed.  JMO
