You aren't being ridiculous about it at all. My mother did the same thing when I was pregnant with my first, as well did other members of my family. I did eventually snap and so far this time around nobody has done it again (except for my daughter, which is totally different). I think its just one of those things that some grandmothers do. I wish I knew why. My guess with my own mother is that the term grandbaby made her feel old, and this was her chance at feeling young again, and she had informed me several times that she was just too young to be a grandmother. I don't know if that's what it is with your mom, but I would try sitting down with her and really explain how it makes you feel. You don't want it to go on and then end up freaking out on her out of the blue.
It happened some with us, I think more with DH's parents than mine. But it was their first grandbaby, and it was my parents 4th :) It was also some with both of my MIL's that "they were too young to be grandmothers". I wanted to say, Really? Your son is almost 30 years old and you are too young to be grandmothers? How does that work? But anyways, off my soapbox now, lol. It annoyed me too, can't remember what I did about though, sorry.
YES! My mother was talking the other day about how she has to get nursery furniture for HER house! WTF? My Mom has one grandchild already, but he lives in London with his mother. It's complicated and we rarely get to see him. She is really excited about this one.
My mom does it, I was caught way off guard at first. Then I just decided to blow it off. I decided it wasn't a big deal and I didn't want to make a big thing of it.
OMG.
I certainly don't think you are wrong. If it bothers you,
Easy way to nip that in the bud....
