Waiting three minutes or longer before clamping a newborn’s umbilical cord reduces the prevalence of iron deficiency at four months, a large trial has found.

We have not done this with our other three kids, but having read some research, we plan on doing that with this babe.

On advice from our midwife (and through some prior research), we did wait until the cord was completely stopped pulsing before it was cut.
