We had a fantastic ultrasound today!
So glad to hear that all is going well.
I was skeptical at first when I read your tech's gender prediction, but I've found some research data and with a skilled tech, 12w ultrasounds have had pretty good reliability, between 85% and 92% (I think that's amazing so early!). So, that's very exciting! Congrats!
We could definitely see boy parts at our 12 week u/s with our last pregnancy, and the tech wouldn't flat out say it, she did say we had a VERY good chance that it was a boy.
LOL -- I think I'm just naturally skeptical. :) Keep in mind the last time I was pregnant was '99-'00 and there were soooo many things they couldn't do then that they can do now. I think ultrasound technology and even training has come a very long way. I totally believe that your tech could be right! :)
You know, we're having a gender scan when I'll be just over 16w... that floored me when my doc told me I could do it then. I won't believe it 100% and will try to get a confirmation at 20-21w, but I think it's amazing that they can identify gender parts so soon. :)
My friend who's from Puerto Rico said that OBs there do the gender scan at 14 weeks!!! I think that's crazy, but she said that's standard.
We don't even have a nursery. We technically have a 3BR, but we have William in the breakfast nook (it's a good size, but no door, and a cutout to the kitchen, so we've got curtains up to kind of make it at least light-tight), so it's kind of a 4BR I guess (but only 1600 sq feet so a bit small). We have a rather large bedroom (and would be much roomier but for our way-too-huge furniture), and I'm going to be doing some rearranging once we hit the 20 or so week mark, and baby will be in there with us until s/he is sleeping through the night. Then I'l rearrange Jacob's room and the baby will go in there. He has a good sized bedroom.
We have a home office, too, but it's not remotely closed off -- it's really what our dining room would be if we had one. And it's so crowded. Hubby and I both have rather large desks, plus the boys have a table their laptop is on, and our small chest freezer is in here, too. Ugh, I just hate this house. We're renting, and I chose it based off pictures since I was in NC when it was time to rent and hubby didn't have time to house-hunt since he was too busy opening the hotel (where he works). I'd love to move into something bigger, but 1) I'm pregnant and working and who has time for that and 2) I love the boy's schools and 3) we've moved entirely too frequently over the past several years and I don't have it in me to pack even one more damn box for a good long while. LOL.
We'll make due for a while, I suppose. :)
That's great! Thanks for the update!
