Baby's first movement

This is a discussion for those of you who are further along.  What did it feel like for those of you who have already felt the first movement.  It's described in so many different ways and women who have had children before are usually able to feel it quicker than first time moms.  How would you describe what you first felt?

To me it feels like twinges/twitches or taps (which I associated with kicking) or like a swooshing (which I associated with moving). I actually felt it kick from the outside last night! I heard the baby kick on the home Doppler at 16 weeks because it sounded like it kicked it (or like if someone flicked it). Then at my last doctors appointment on Monday, the doctor said the baby was very active and moving a lot because that was what all the swishing was. Now I can differentiate on the home Doppler as well. I do highly recommend you get one, it's the neatest thing and gives you and the husband bonding time with the baby.  My baby seems to me most active while I'm resting/relaxing or after doing something active and I stop (like if I am walking a lot). Movement apparently is like a rocking motion and puts it to sleep, while resting makes it active (sounds about like motherhood, right?). I just read somewhere that babies are most active from 9pm-1am.

Some women describe it as fluttering,a gold fish swimming around, gas bubbles,  or hunger pains. You'll start feeling those movements in the next couple of weeks!

Tapping is exactly what it felt like for me at first too!

The first movement I felt I can only describe as popcorn popping on the inside, but now they feel more like muscle twitches. I only feel a few painful ones every day and now that I am almost in the third trimester I am starting to feel a waking and sleeping pattern with the punches, kicks, and turns and my lo is active no matter what I am doing. I felt the first kicks around 4 months (16 weeks) so you might start to feel them soon. Babies are the most active when you are lying down trying to get to sleep and right after you wake up to go use the bathroom so pay attention during those times.
