I am 30 and started doing the exams just recently. My moms grandma died of breast cancer,My grandpa died of cancer(it was everywhere) and we found out in March that my grandma has breast cancer and then in April that my mom has Lung cancer. I guess that means cancer runs in the family. So I am kinda freaked out about it. All I can do is check myself once in a while in the shower and make sure to see DR regularly. I dont smoke so I dont have to worry about lung cancer though. But it is known that some people are predisposed to cancer due to genetics. Needless to say I check a lot. I am paranoid and always think I find somthing but ask Dr and I am fine. He sais it will be pretty obvious if there was a lump.

When I was younger, about 18. I found a bump in my breast. I had my mother check it and she found it suspiscious as well. We went to my doctor and requested a mammogram and they will not give you one unless your like 32 I think. I was really upset. Not just because I really wanted one but because people young and older get breast cancer and how is it being detected if these procedures are not taking place? I ended up having a breast u/s. (it was ...odd lol) and there wasn't a problem. But taking care of yourself and your body by detecting these things early is what keeps you alive. :) Good thing your being cautious Andreanna!
