Breastfeeding Class

That is really nice! I was wishing we would have taken the breast feeding class offered at our hospital too when we took our child birth classes. It might have really helped! Nursing did not work out for us because our son was tongue tied when he was born and they did not clip the connective tissue until he was 4 days old, so during that time we ended up having to give him bottles because he could not latch properly. After getting used to the bottles for even a few short days he never took to nursing after that, bottles are so much easier for them to eat from so he did not want to have to "work" at nursing. He is still exclusively breastfed though, I pump and we bottle feed. I definitely wish we could have nursed more though.

That is really nice that they did not have an all or nothing attitude about it as well. I think the lactation consultants at my hospital were kind of extreme, the morning after he was born he would not nurse and after his circumcision he was so tired he wouldn't wake up to eat after that either, so I wanted to pump and syringe feed him a little, because he HAD to eat. They did not want me to do this, but thankfully one of the nurses brought the pump and syringe in so we could because she understood he needed to eat too. And when I mentioned just pumping and bottle feeding the consultant looked at me like I was crazy and said it's too hard and would end up giving up and going to formula, and I just needed to nurse no matter what. Well here I am over 2 months still pumping and bottle feeding with absolutely no plans of stopping! They can really be bullies sometimes.

Local hospitals usually offer them. Wherever you're planning on delivering check the website or call to see what they have.

When we first found out we were pregnant, we wanted confirmation before our first appointment, so we found a free test center (thanks to Google) and they also offered free classes (w/the gift card at the end of the class).
