Is it safe to get your hair highlighted during your first trimester? I am 6 weeks right now. I called the nurse and she didn't really say no, but she said that because of all of the hormones in your body during your first trimester, they dye might not take or it might over dye your hair. I'm more worried about causing harm to the baby. Thoughts?

It is questionable. I have heard it is ok in the second and third trimesters, but not safe in the first because everything is really starting to develop, and really, why risk anything. Personally, I did not highlight my hair during either pregnancy and just dealt with my roots. The dye can touch your scalp and then it is present in your body. Another thing to worry about is the fumes from all of the chemicals.

I agree with maddiesmommy as far as the chemicals, u don't want to breathe all of the fumes in.
