Hi everyone,

I am new to this board and I can answer any question you might have about what to expect when you go into labor. I have been a Labor and Delivery RN for 10 years in a very busy hospital. We have about 500 births a month.

I have a question for all of you. I am going to start a Prepared Childbirth program and would like it to be a weekend retreat- getaway, all inclusive for couples. How much would any of you expect to pay for a class like this? It will be a weekend class, Friday evening -Sun Morning. I would also like to give the couples plenty of alone time, since they are getting away for the weekend. The place I will hold it out is a mountain cabin with a full kitchen, each guest room has a fireplace and Jacuzzi tub. I will have meals made or catered. I want to make it a nice, calm experience and a nice weekend retreat for the couples at the same time. Just not sure how much couples would be willing to pay?

Thanks for any input!

That retreat sounds great and I would love to go! However, DH and I are pretty much broke at the moment, so we would never be able to afford something like that. I guess I would expect it to be in the $300-500 range?

I think the price would surely vary depending on where in the country you are and the income levels of the clients you hope to attract. If I were pricing it out, I would look at the room rates, the estimated costs for the food, and how much a similar but no-frills childbirth program might cost -- and then mark it up some from there. Something like:

$100 for the room per night = $200

$10 per person per meal x 2 people x 5 meals = $100

$75 per childbirth class = $75
