Hi there...

To be honest with you, I used the internet. There are ovulation calculators you can search for... I think I used pregnancy.com. Anyway, they're free and you just type in the first day of your last period. It'll give you a series of days when you're most fertile in the middle of your cycle.

Apparently, it worked for me. My husband I and were blessed enough to get pregnant the very first month we tried. I know a lot of people aren't that lucky. But we did make a point to be around each other when I was ovulating!!

Hope this helps and good luck,

Chris

The best way to tell is to temperature chart and check your cervix. You should get the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. It is the bible of ttc. You can read about it here: http://www.parentsplace.com/fertility/conception/articles/0,10335,238707_111181,00.html

You can't really rely on the average ovulation day of 14 days after the first day of your period. I found that I ovulated on day 18, so if I relied on the day 14 rule, I probably would have never gotten pregnant because I would have stopped trying after day 14. Most women do not ovulate on day 14, so don't assume that you do. My cycles were 31 days long, not the "standard" 28 days.

Hi there Kristie!

Thank you for posting the article, I did read through it and found it helpful. I normally do not chart my cycles on the calendar (shame on me!) but if I remember correctly AF came last month (April 20th). I counted ahead 28 days and tomorrow AF should arrive. Does this mean I have a *standard* cycle and ovulate on day 14? I have cramps in my abdomen area (right around where my ovaries are and in the middle), my breasts are not tender like they normally are, I have no leg , back pain or CM. Yesterday I checked my cervix according to the article and found it to be high up and soft but it didn't feel open to me, it was hard to reach. I will keep trying and learning about my body and when we are ready it shouldn't take long (hoping!). If you can offer any more help or advice it is greatly apperciated as this is very new to me and confusing.

I did the whole temperature thing, but couldn't figure out a stable pattern. I looked at the websites and guessed on my dates, then went and bought an ovulation kit. You get 7 sticks in those...you just 'do your business' on one every morning and it'll tell ya when you're ovulating.

It worked for us - we got pregnant the first month of trying!

Good luck :)

I just found out I'm pregnant and due in January. We had been trying for only about 3 months. The website I used that seems to be very popular is www.FertilityFriend.com. This helped me chart my temperatures every day and know pretty accurately when I was ovulating. Good luck.

HI Michelle, sorry to take so long to get back to you. First off, don't ever assume that just because your cycle may be 28 days that you ovulate on day 14. You really need to start charting your temps to tell when you ovulate. For a 28 day cycle, you could ovulate anywhere from day 10 to day 18 most likely. Every woman is different and you need to know when YOU ovulate. Buy the book and start learning about your cycle. Did AF ever come? Kristie

we didn't check temps or ovulation charts or anything. if you make love every other day (what fun!) there are always live spermies in there waiting for your egg. it worked for us; as soon as we started getting down to business, we got preggo! :)

have fun!

I also did not ovulate when I thought I would. It was more like day 16 or 17! Good luck and enjoy trying!
