Anyone switch jobs while pregnant?  Do you tell them that you are pregnant? 

I stopped searching for a new job after finding out I was pregnant, It just seemed like no one would hire me after that.

Also, if you started a new job....did the health insurance pick up your 'pre-existing' pregnancy?

I HATE my job...every day in this place wears me down and stresses me out.  My plan (since finding out I was pregnant) was to stay on through my pregnancy...use the benefits that are offered  (8 wks off with pay) then not come back :smileysad:

Any advice????

Insurance will probably be the difficult part. I'm sure that the new job will understand you being pregnant, but the insurance may consider the pregnancy a 'pre-existing condition'. If you can stick it out it may be more beneficial to use your maternity leave to search for a new job. It's never an easy answer when you dislike the job you're working!

I knew when I got pregnant I would not be going to work for awhile. When I found out I was pregnant I had two more months of college left and knew that by time I graduated and had my degrees that nobody would hire me being almost three months pregnant, and it would not be fair to withhold that information from them. I know some women do, but I strongly disagree with interviewing for jobs and accepting them, knowing you are pregnant and not telling the employer. They have every right to know seeing how in most jobs they would have to find someone to replace you while you are out on maternity leave. As far as insurance, I am not 100% sure but I believe that all prenatal care would be considered preventative care which should be covered no matter what under Obama's healthcare program.

My advice would be to stick it out. You could apply and interview for jobs if you want, but definitely be upfront and honest about your pregnancy. I have known a few women that were not only to be let go further down the road before they went out on maternity leave, the employer would just look for any reason to fire them. Not to mention most employer require that you have been working for them for so long, usually at least a year before you get PAID maternity leave. If you cannot afford to take the time off without the pay after your baby if born then your best option might be to stay where you are at for now and then start looking for a new job after your baby is born, seeing how you did not plan on going back to this current place anyway.
