I recently just found out I was pregnant.
if my insurance would cover a midwife i would have taken that route, every book that i have picked up is filled with uplifting experiences provided by midwives...before you make your final decision suggest you read "your best birth", its a great read filled with information i wish i had available to me before i made my choice (or should i say the choice my insurance made for me)
best wishes to the both of you
I had my DS with a Certified Nurse Midwife in a hospital and I loved it. A lot of the time the doctors arrive in time just to catch the baby, but a CNM will spend more time with you and respect your birth plan and make decisions with you. Sometimes I feel like doctors can be condescending and absolute. I just felt it to be a more personable relationshipwith my midwife. I was allowed to labor the way I wanted and she was there a lot checking on me and giving me labor options. They work under a doctors supervision you could say so if they were any complications a doctor from your practice would be called in.
