Anyone out there planning on sticking with one child? Thats my husband and my plan so far... We're both only children and neither of us turned out nutso, so we're pretty sure our singleton will be fine. :) Just wondering if anyone else has decided to stop at one, and why/ why not?
Hi there,
I did not have just one child- I have three!
I've always said that if I was going to have a family, one child would be enough. Fortunately, DF agrees with me. :) For me, I've always figured that one child was all I would be able to handle. Now that I'm actually pregnant, I really like the idea of a family of three, just a nice and cozy

Kristy- thank you for the link!
I do have 2 adult stepkids; but always only wanted one biological child. When I was younger I said it was so that I'd always know who did it when something got broken/misplaced/ruined :smileyvery-happy:; but now it's because it took so much for us to get pg this time... I just don't think I could go through all of that again!
We're sorta on the one and done plan. DH is certain he only wants one - and I had to beg for this one so I agreed to just one. But I'm hoping DH will change his mind and we can have two.
Ha.
Sometimes I think about maybe only stopping at one. I mean, I look at a close friend of mine who is an only child and got to travel the world, attended many school functions, and is currently in Duke University. While her parents have a good bit of money, they wouldn't have had enough to support their lifestyle, their daughter, and more children. So I'm sitting here thinking- If I have just one, will I be able to afford these things for my child to enjoy?
I grew up in a 4-child family and we didn't exactly have nice vacations (hello there Alabama), none of us were in school functions, and only two of us have not gotten a college education due to money problems. I didn't get to do what I wanted until I got my own job and moved out at 18.
Then I go to think if I'm being realistic. I had a fun childhood, lots of family time, lots of family to spend time with. I'm also ONLY 20. By the time I'm 40 ... I'll just have until the rest of my life to do something. lol.
I believe I'll have more. I always dreamed of a family like what I grew up in. I think I'll just stick with one for a while though, just to see if that's what I want :)
