Physical job and pregnancy

I'm just about 6 weeks and am planning on working till about 5 or 6 months. I have done extremely physical work most my life and am currently a landscaper. I shovel soil, lift carry and pull, work long hours in the heat or cold. The doctor says its fine for now.. I am just wondering if anyone else out there does physical work and how they managed during pregnancy. I haven't told my boss yet, as I'm worried he will not know how to deal with it and I don't want to be babied or have him feel guilty for making me work. I will eventually tho..So far I feel the work is helping to relieve some of my symptoms although I have less energy at work and am exhausted when I get home. Any similiar experiences?????

Hi there,

I'm so glad that you mentioned you talked to your doctor. I'm sure if he/she says it is fine for you to continue work for now, you should be good to go for now. I've never worked at a physical job like you are describing but I would suggest that you just really listen to your body. It is normal to have less energy but I think you'll find that your energy level will somewhat go back to normal once you enter the second trimester.

Hopefully some of the ladies here will have some more great advice to share with you. I wish you the very best of luck with your pregnancy- keep us posted on how things are going!
