Sleeping on my back....grrrrr!

Sleeping on my back....grrrrr!

I know I am not suppose to sleep on my back...and I try REALLY hard not to...but I always wake up 2 or 3 times a night and find myself blissfully sleeping on my back.   I get so frustrated because I know it is not good for the babies.  I fall asleep on my left or right side, then drift on to my back after I am asleep.

Anyone else have this issue?   How do I get out of this habit?   The only solution I can think of is surrounding myself with pillows so I can't lay flat.   But seriously????

I'm a side-sleeper normally, but I fall asleep on my back on nights where I'm fighting nausea.  I normally turn over to my side within a few hours though.  I haven't gotten a body pillow to use yet as our bed is a full XL (family heirloom) instead of a queen so there isn't a ton of extra space for pillows without crowding DH.  I wouldn't worry about it since you are waking up and shifting position.  Good luck to you!

I still have this issue and I am 28 weeks along! My doc told me not to stress out too much if I end up on my back because you will wake up to change positions before it ends up doing any harm to the baby. I put a body pillow on either side of myself to prevent from rolling over too far either way since I was a stomach sleeper. Trust me, later on you will love having something soft against your back (and keeps DH's hot body away from yours, hot flashes are totally normal in pregnancy) and something between your boobs, under your belly, and between your legs. If you really can't sleep on your side then prop yourself up using 3 or 4 pillows under your shoulders/ back and another one or two under your knees and calves. This will prop you up enough so the blood is still flowing freely.
