Strollers, carseats, travelsystems...

I am driving myself and dh (and maybe even my mom!) absolutely crazy w/ trying to decide on a stroller/carseat... i'm pretty sure we want a matching system, and so far we're registered for this (Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe):

I'm not 100% convinced that's the one for us (it seems really heavy and bulky).

another one we were considering is this (Chicco Cortina travel system):

it has good reviews, but i don't know much else about it. i'm not even sure if it's any lighter than the graco.

and then finally we were considering getting a peg perego pliko p3 (which is really expensive-- stroller alone is $329, carseat is $219):

so as u can see, i'm totally lost about what to get! what about anyone else? what are you ladies getting? do u have any suggestions? TIA!

Have you gone into the stores to try them?

I have the graco stroller and car seat you are considering and I really like it. The stroller is pretty big but it hasn't been a problem for me. And I really don't use it that much. But it folds up right in my trunk and I have a pretty small car. I got mine as a gift from my sister and she is really picky about that stuff too, so it must be good.

So after weeks and weeks of researching carseats and strollers and seeking advice from the boards (and of course driving both myself and DH absolutely nutty!) we've finally made a decision! we decided that any graco travel systems are out (not really our style), and that the p3 is too much of a splurge right now, so we are going w/ the Chicco Cortina travel system in Discovery! we played w/ it in the store and loved it! we're both very happy w/ our decision (and relieved to be done w/ it! lol).

we also wanted to add a lightweight umbrella-ish stroller to our registry, so we went w/ the Combi Cosmo EX Stroller in Lawn:

i don't know if $100 is too much for a lightweight stroller, so i was also considering the Chicco Capri Stroller in Key Lime ($60):

so it still looks like i still have this decision to make and also which diaper bag to get...and dh said i'm alone on this one. hmmmm...
Thanks!

If you're going to be using a car seat/stroller system, it's going to be awhile before you use the lightweight.

that was my thought also, but dh and some ladies from my EC board suggested putting it on the registry now, so maybe someone will give it to us as a gift. they had the same thought for the convertible/toddler carseat. and BRU apparently gives u 10% off of whatever is left on the registry after yor due date, so that may help too.

It's fine if you have the room for it.

that is a great point... hmmm, i was thinking we were going to start using the lightweight stroller in the summer, when she'll be 6-7 months old. is that too early for the baby? i know the combi stroller reclines.
when do they start coming out w/ newer models?
thanks,
Najah

I don't really know.

Consumer reports did an investigation on carseats and only the Babytrend Flex-lock (found a Target and Walmart online) and the Graco Snugride w/ EPS passed--yes they revised the results when the carseat companies complained that the speeds were to fast at 35/40 MPH, but if the seat broke free and went flying then I don't want it--especially since I have been in 2 45-55 mph crashes. The nice expensive perego one got one of the worst ratings. Both the passing seats come as travelsystems.

If you want lightweight the combi travel system is AWESOME!!!
