Who should plan your baby shower?
Tue, 05-10-2011 - 11:05pm

My MIL happily offered to plan my baby shower and asked if maybe my mom would like to help. Well, my mom isn't really a planner of parties, so it has been me and my MIL. I feel weird planning my own shower. It's going to be at my house, and I'm going to have to clean it, which is enough responsibility as far as I'm concerned.

haha!! I'm so glad that I'm not the only OCD person here whose planning their own baby shower. =)
I'm planning my own because I'm really picky and I know EXACTLY what I want. I'm only 7 weeks along right now lol, so I know it's still a little early, but I've had it planned and decorated since before I got pregnant.

I do want my mother to help, she and I have actually discussed starting our own party planning and decorating business because we're so good at it and love it so much. I have printed pictures and written down everything that I want and pretty much planned everything besides the invitations. =P

My family is not into throwing parties. I am ALWAYS the one to do it. I host Christmas every year for my whole family. My husband and I got no engagement party,

My mom is throwing mine (which is right around the corner!) and it's at my house. She's doing most of the work but I've got some input (like what kind of food, etc).

I love planning parties though and am OCD, so I've probably gotten more involved than most would. ;)

I would think that your MIL would stay to help clean up, since she's the one throwing it. I'm going to have my shower at my house too since (I think)

I don't know that there are any real "rules" about who should/shouldn't throw the shower. My mom gave me mine, and my SIL hosted at her house. I think that you should do whatever all parties involved are comfortable with. Do you have a friend or other family member that may be able to step in and give your MIL a hand?
