Who will be in the room with you when you give birth?

First and foremost, I think the final say of who gets to be in the delivery room should be left up to the mama - after all, she is the one who has been carrying the child for 9 months and the one who has to go through the delivery process! When I have my little bundle of joy in November, I plan on having my mom and my best friend in the room for support. Everyone else can wait patiently in the lobby or hospital waiting room :)

My boyfriend b/c I would die if he wasn't in there for support. He can make me laugh and relax me in the best of ways during painful (mental and physical) times. And my mom. She knows my pain tolerances and I want someone in there besides my bf to make sure everything goes my way lol I don't want meds unless I need them and mom is the best person to either convince me to take them or to convince the staff that I don't need them.

Heck yes it's up to me! Those are MY bits doing all the work! If it were up to my husband both sets of our parents would be in the room and everyone would have a different camera angle. Not happening! I've already told him that it will be him and my mother and that's it. I even told him where he's allowed to stand... behind my shoulder or beside me, but no one is allowed downstairs... and certainly NO CAMERAS!!

I honestly don't think anyone should have any say on who gets to be in the room besides you, it's your body, you're not going to want to be worrying about what other people you don't even want in there are seeing or hearing. It's your experience; and while I think the husband has a right to be in the room, the husband does not have the right to bring others in.

I am having a water home-birth (god willing) so everyone should be comfortable in familiar surroundings.

I was married Sept. 27, 2009 to the man of my dreams!

Definitely should be the mom-to-be's decision. Afther all, she's the one giving birth. For us, it will be DH and I. Nobody else. I would feel way too uncomfortable having anyone else in the room. Besides, this is something very intimate and private, that I only want to share with my DH.

We will be living moving out of state this summer, away from all family and friends, so the only option we have is for it to be my husband and I.
