Hi everyone and congratulations.   I'm Amelie and I am a mom of 5 kiddos ranging in age from 16 to 8 and all born at home and if all goes well this one will be welcomed to the world safely in our home.  We live in New Orleans though are from elsewhere.  This is the dad's first child and we are both quite excited.

Hi Amelie! Congratulations!  Wow... I'm sure you'll have a lot of pearls of wisdom for those of us preggo for the first time. :)  Although I know all pregnancies can be different, right?  Are your kids excited to have a new baby?

My reading comprehension isn't up to par today and I can't edit this for some reason.I see you're a home birth pro!

Yep, they were all born at home.  #4 was an awesome waterbirth.  We had planned the same for #5 but things just happened too fast and there was no time to set it all up, entire labor was @ 1 1/2 hours.

We haven't told my other kids yet.  I'm a wee bit nervous to.   They all have the same dad (who died 3 years ago) and I'm guessing we'll have some mixed emotions about it.  We aren't announcing until week 12 so I have a little time to gear up to it.

Before I moved to New Orleans I attended births as an assistant midwife for over 8 years and 200 births.  So I know Alot about normal pregnancy and birth, high risk stuff...not so much other than lots of research.   I ran a childbirth education class for several years and also helped run a non-profit that helped educate women about natural childbirth and homebirthing.    I'm glad to not have any of that stress now so I can enjoy my pregnancy, which will likely be my last.   But glad to share any info I may have to any that may want to hear it.

Thanks ladies and I think it'll be fun to get to know you over the next 7 months or so.
