Sciatic Nerve Pain

Is anyone else having any Sciatic Nerve Pain? I experianced this a little in my previous pregnancies but it's bad this time. Basically from what I've read it's because of the babies head pressing up against my sciatic nerve. It gives me shooting pains and some numbness down right under the back of my thighs. From what I've read it will only get worse the bigger the baby gets and there isn't anything I can do about it.

Ahhh the joys of pregnancy!! Looking forward to a little over 2 months left!

I am. I've had it severely with all 3 pg. It's bad now, but it gets worse. That's why last pg I begged for an epidural. Not because of the contractions, but because I didn't feel my leg. Another reason we get them, or me anyway, is that the hormone "relaxin" causes all the muscles and joints to relax, and my pelvis shifts out of joint on one side, pinching the nerve. I've been to an obstetric physical therapist who taught me stretches to pop it back in, but it just pops out again. Sorry you are in pain too!!

I have a friend who found relief from this by going to a chiropractor.

I'm doing a prenatal yoga class and have found that some of the stretches and exercises really help with that! When I start feeling the pain I'll do one of the stretches and it usually goes away!

Good to know I'll try the yoga idea first (I've wanted to try that anyways) and if that doesn't work I will talk with my Dr. more about it. Thanks!
