Preparing 18mo old for new arrival???

I was wondering for those with children close in age how did you get them adjusted?  When my daughter comes her and my lil guy will be a year and a half apart.  I have no idea how to prepare him for whats to come. This worries me more then anything.  I don't want him to be jealous but I think he will.  When ever I show attention to other little kids he throws a fit.  Any ideas on how to make this transition easier for him?

My sons were a little farther apart (2.5 years), but we read my older son lots of books about being a big brother. We also brought him a small gift from the baby and had a birthday cake when we arrived home from the hospital to make it special for him. I read somewhere that you should have Dad bring in the baby, and fuss over the big kids when you first get home before focusing on the baby so that they know that they are still important to you and the baby doesn't seem so threatening.
