28 week appointment...failed the one hour GTT

I am surprised that with my fourth pregnancy and having no risk factors other than age, that I failed the GTT.

I told the nurse to tell the dr. that I would be willing to go through the education and monitor my levels at home. I should hear back from the OB office tomorrow about how they want me to proceed. I'm sure it is more complicated then just going for the test, but I'm pretty sure I would not even be able to keep the stuff down after 8-10 hours of fasting. I already feel sick if I don't eat every six hours..I even wake up starving in the middle of the night sometimes.
I hope that the dr is ok with this..obviously I want to look out for baby, but I want to do it in a way that will not leave me feeling like crap in the process.
I can't believe they wouldn't let you have water. Why not?? Even during my one hour, they said I could have water!
I'm not sure by how much I failed the one hour, but I just had to take the three hour.
I know it CAN happen, but I only "failed" the one hour by a couple of points.
