I failed my 1hr as well and I elected to take the 1 hr again. If I fail again then I'll have to take the 3 hr. Hard to say whether you'll pass it. It has so much to do with how your body is managing in this pregnancy. There's nothing that I know that you can do to make your numbers better. I know they say drink water and take a walk in between...but I'm not sure it helps Goodluck! I have to retake mine in a week

I can just pass on what they told me when I failed the one hour this week by 2 pts. They said they expect me to pass the 3 hr.

Yes it is fasting- I think 10pm the night before?

You can have water. JUST water.

I do have to have an appt but some offices are different.

You go in when they open and they take your blood. then you drink the crap- it's stronger than the last one.

Then every hour they take it again.

Be prepared to feel bad. And bring a high protein snack for after and I think you can have water through the test.

I also failed. I had a 132 and was told it needed to be under 130. My midwife said that she thinks I'll pass the 3 hr and they put me on a special diet for three days before the test. I go for my 3 hr tomorrow morning. I'm really not looking forward to it. I felt nauseous drinking that stuff with the 1 hr and am worried I won't be able to keep it down. I have an appointment but am going to show up early incease they can fit me in earlier. Oh and I have to fast after 10 pm tonight.

Good luck. I just barely passed. And they wanted under 130 too. Hoping the best for all of you.

My doc uses 130 as the cutoff, mine was 140 so I had to go for the 3 hour test. I did have to fast, they should tell you when you need to start, depending on what time you need to start the test. All in all, it wasn't too bad, just make sure you take plenty of reading material because the hours go slow. My doc will not allow you to leave the clinic, just in case.

I did pass the 3 hour, so hopefully you will too! But my doc just lectured me at my appointment this morning about limiting my sweet/simple sugar intake and making sure I am eating balanced meals. You might want to call your clinic to ask about needing an appointment, they should give you the rest of the information you will need at that point. Good luck!

I had mine today and am still waiting for the results. The first hour was rough I felt sick and felt like I was going to pass out. When I told the phlebotomist he suggest I go out to my car and lay down. But I was worried I'd pass out and not return in time for the blood draws and have to do the whole thing again. A little after an hour I started feeling a lot better and felt pretty good by the end of the three hours. And I finished a book for my book club that meets on Fridays!

My ob doesn't let you go anywhere and you have to sit in the awful waiting room chairs. I hope I pass the one hour because I do not think I could stand being in those chairs for 3 hours. I think they should have a special room equipped with recliners for these test.
