Actually if you are out and about and up it's not so bad, just a trickle. If you have on cotton underwear no one would no but you (at least that's my experience). There was a lot more stuff and leaking when it broke with me lying down, even though I (obviously) got up then.

Do people really make plans like this? Very few labors start with the water breaking. If it does gush whilst in public it will be obvious that you are very pregnant. People will rush to your aid not scoff at you. At least that is what keep telling myself.

Both of my pregnancies so far started with my water breaking... I didn't have contractions until hours later when I was in the hospital.

I'm only worried about it happening at work. My students would freak out and there would be pandemonium. If it breaks anywhere else, it wouldn't bother me because that's what happens to pregnant women. My attitude would be like, guess its time to go to the hospital now.

I originally made this as a means to encourage interest in the Labor and Delivery board.

I know a lot of our mums wander around the different boards. I'm sure a lot clicked your link and then came back to respond to your post here. Things are quieter, so we're happy to have activity here. I hope things are good on your board as well :)

My 1st started with my water breaking and Ctx didn't start so they induced me. But my friend's water broke at the dog park. We were there withour puppies and all the dogs would not leave her alone and then there is was, the trickle. I had to call her DH to come and get her and go to the hospital.

It's not a big worry of mine. Honestly having it break in the car, on the couch or in bed before I put a water proof pad on would concern me more then in public. What is somebody going to do? Tease me? And depending where it happens I might not have to deal with cleaning it up. My water never broke with my son but the bag started coming out intact.
