From what I've been told...it's not an absolute result, meaning if you have a positive, it can mean you will deliver soon or you might not deliver for weeks. A negative can be wrong too if done after a digi check. Bed rest is fabulous and can really help. Don't get me wrong tho....bed rest isn't fun...just great for the babies. How far are you now? Have you had the growths done? Hows your cervical length?

I had one done several weeks ago after a round of preterm contractions myself and was told that it CAN be an indicator of whether your are likely to go into labor within a week of the test being performed, but it DOESN'T absolutely mean you're going to go into labor. If it's negative then the risk for going into labor is minimal.

I was told they don't do the test that often, because they are expensive, and the information isn't especially helpful.

I had one done last Wednesday since I've been having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions. The doctor also examined my cervix and I had an intravaginal sonogram done to measure my cervix.

The sonogram and exam both came back saying that my cervix looks good. My doctor said they will examine me again in 2 weeks and then make their decision about whether or not I'm at risk for perterm labor.

I don't love all this testing and examining, but the contractions are far scarier so I'm ok with them monitoring me this way.

I had my first one ever at 25 weeks with this pregnancy due to my kidney stones and having contractions every 3min at that point. Fortunately it was negative. I know they say are expensive to run and sometime don't hold a lot of water. I hope yours is a false positive and the bed rest does the trick.
