Well after talking to the American Diabetes Association I found out that the A1C level they ran after my 1st prenatal was to diagnose type 2 diabetes and according to that I AM NOT A DIABETIC! Also that Gestational Diabetes can not be diagnosed with the A1C, that it can only be diagnosed with an Oral Glucose Tolerance test. They recommended that I seek a second opinion as soon as possible as I should not have been put on insulin at 10 weeks... Now to find a new set of doctors.

My father thinks I should file a malpractice suit against both sets of doctors, my regualr OB and the diabetic OB.

Seriously crazy!! So many questions run through my head thinking about this. The fact that two doctors were involved and one is a diabetic specialist. This makes me so angry for you. You have been through way to much and it's early still. Just curious do you have a history that made them test so early?  You deserve to find the best OB out there after all of this.

Oh no! I was really hoping your diabetic OB was going to be your answer for a good prenatal provider for you! I'd definitely start looking for a new doc :-/

I'm overweight that was their entire reason for running the A1C.

Wow!  I thought that you had diabetes to begin with and that's why they put you on insulin.  Have you found a new doctor yet?  Update?

Well after I refused to take the insulin I was informed by letter that I had to find new prenatal care. Not a problem. As I also found out that my DR isn't an MD but a DO, while still a doctor not the same. I have my insurance looking for a new PCP so I can be refered to a perinatoligist and an OBGYN. Currently I am also working on finding a malpractice lawyer.
