In need of a few positive vibes...

I could just use a few positive vibes right now... i am stressed to the max at the moment after a totally unexpected phone call from my midwife. We have been planning a homebirth and our midwive has been doing them in our state for a long time with no problems. Well I guess the nationwide crackdown on home birth midwives has hit close to home becuase they are now investigating my midwife and she can't practice anymore, thus leaving me in need of new care! Whats worse is I can't even find a reason why she is being investigated... there aren't complaints against her and in fact everything i've heard and read about her online has been wonderful! I'm just heartbroken and stressed out as there are very few midwives in my state that do homebirth, let alone ones that work with insurance companies like she did! To make matters harder i'm also a VBAC. =(

Oh Emma, that sucks! I know how much you were looknig forward to this and loving your midwife! Is there anyway the investigation will be done in a couple of months? Keep searching. How far will midwives travel? Maybe there would be a birthing center that would appeal to you? Best of luck and keep looking!

Homebirths aren't for me, but I'm very aware of how passionate moms like you are. I'm sorry you lost such a perfect mw, and I'm hoping you get back on here and tell us you found another ASAP. :)

I think as mothers, we should be given the chance to try it the way we want. Does your mw have any referrals?

Thanks for all your positive thoughts girls!! I am in a muhc better place today thankfully =)

I spoke with a midwife yesterday who, while not near my house, said she would take me if I couldn't find someone closer. I also have a meeting on MOnday afternoon with my original midwife to find out mroe about the situation and to get some more names of people I can contact locally who may be able to take me!

Ack, I am so sorry for you and your midwife. I love my midwife and am very protective of her. I do prefer hospital deliveries and home-births concern me, but it these decisions are personal and tough. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. Regardless of what happens, I hope that she is able to practice her trade again and you have a wonderful birth with a healthy baby.
