Omg! Your post sound like what I'm going through right now. I had to go with cobra because if I had a lapse in coverage they would consider my pregnancy a preexisting condition and it wouldn't be covered. Blah!!!! Cobra kicked my butt tho!! It's super expensive but no choice. I feel the same abou testing. I think I've decided not to do it. Many women in my family hve had kids in their 40's and no genetic abnormalities. I have read that there are a lot of false positives in those tests and I don't need any unnecessary stress. What is to be will be!!! Good luck to ya.

This might not be an option for you for many reasons but because I am 37, I am skipping the blood work and going straight to amnio at 15 weeks 4 days. We have a bit of a blank on DH's family history so we dont have a lot of security there history wise, my side is fine. Insurance is covering it since I am AMA. No problem. We did the same with my DD when I was 35 and pregnant with her. This is my third kid and I want to know how to prepare if there are any abnormalities with this new LO. I think it is better to be prepared but I know that is a personal decision. We are confident with the amnio doc we have chosen and his expertise in this procedure so it is the right decision for us.
