I know a lot of people buy a system that includes the infant carseat. We sort of skipped the stroller at first and went straight to the umbrella stroller when he was older. We recently got a chico lightway stroller and I LOVE it. Its light, folds up easily, takes up little space in the back of my car, and is a snap to push! I tried out quite a few strollres at babies r us because i'm taller and i wanted to make sure i could push okay. I got mine on sale for about $100. i know you can get cheaper umbrella strollers, but i wanted something that would last and be comfortable for him for longer trips.

We got a travel system and I love it. It has been used a lot. I still use the stroller for walks with my 3 year-old. It is a Chico Keyfit. We also have a couple lightweight strollers. Just got a Britax and love it. Much better then the Mclaren we have and spent almost $50 bucks for. I am only 5'3" and my husband is almost 6'2" and we both can push it. It was hard to find one my husband didn't kick. I got it off of Albeebaby for like $70 compared to the $100 and something it orginially went for. I should mention ours reclines so it could be used for an infant but I loved being able to snap her infant seat in the stroller for the mall and what not. I will be using the same travel system for this LO too.

I was a FTM last year and got a decent stroller to match my car seat. It was a recommendation from a friend. It's not the nicest stroller, but it's compact, lightweight, and fits through small aisles very well.

This is the one I have: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3692931&searchURL=false

ANYWAY. I knew we wanted kids close in age, and I didn't want to buy anything gender specific. I didn't realize I'd be having my kids 15 months apart, but now I wish I had a double stroller. If there is any chance you'll have a second child before your first turns 2 or even 3, I would consider it.

We're now going to go out and buy this:

Strollers get used when you go to malls a lot or to events at expos or food tasting, etc. Some moms never use them because they use shopping carts or baby carriers. If you plan to go to malls and such, you need a stroller. Umbrella strollers are used for babies once they can sit up on their own around 6 months. They're pretty cheap, and I don't think you need to invest in one for quite a while.

I have the same kind as Dani only mine is the jogger stroller. I'm not sure if she she said hers was or not. I also love it. ONLY complaint on it is that the umbrella on itdoesnt go farther than mid area because it is attached at the back. Well, when the sun is just past noon, or before noon, it is in his face. That is truly my only complaint, so not much to say other than that!

lesley - just a heads up most infant carseats only do go up to 30lbs! But they also usually have a height limit so chances are tye LO will max out of the height limit before the weight! if you do want to save money up front most convertable carseats have a weight range starting as low as 5lbs. The downside obviously is that you can't snap them in and out of the car.. but it saves having to buy another seat quickly! I wish i had done this first time around... DS was born at 10lbs so by 3 months we moved him to a convertable seat because he was just more comfortable!

I'm with Emma, Will also being a big boy we went in the infent car seat very long either but we have the-http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11468535
And love it. It ranges from 5- 100 lbs. I wanted something like that knowing that we would have several kids in car seats at once. It gives us a little more options for who will go in what seat.
