Congrats and welcome! I had a 3rd degree episiotomy with baby #2 and went on to have 4 more babies so it is entirely possible. Try to remember that each pregnancy, labor, and delivery are all different. H&H 9 months!

I didn't end up with a 4th degree tear, but a 3rd degree. With my first I also spent 3 hours pushing and had to have him removed similarly. He has the hardest, roundest head ever lol Still does! He was also in a funky position and my epi didn't take thoroughly. That said, they assured me the 2nd time around would be easier and darned if they weren't right. I only labored for 12 hours with number two, on pitocin and no pain meds. They kept upping the pit because the monitor wasn't picking up my contractions and I looked 'too comfortable'. LOL! I was, actually. 2nd time around was WAY better and a much easier recovery. I absolutely advocate giving it a shot. My mom also had a 4th degree tear with one of my brothers and I'm the youngest so it worked for her :) That recovery without the epidural was worth it's weight in gold though. I'll try every time to go without the pain meds for that alone.

Ouch! I pushed for 19 mins, but I was in so much pain the following two weeks after birth. The pain added to my hormones and bfing issues, so I felt like I was failing my son. I've heard tearing isn't as bad the second time around. However, it sounds like yours could be an internal issue writhing her head getting stuck. It may very well happen again. :(

Congrats! I don't want to get too attached to this group because I'm DTD this week to try for an end of month baby. However, my labor ripped me apart, so I'm fearing another big headed boy. What happened with your birth?
