Dh and I have decided to go for #3!! we started to try this past month, but I have just started AF now :-/ For the past month I have been taking 2 flintstone vitamins a day. One in the morning and one at night. Hopefully we will have better luck this month and I'll be here to stay =P
I can't stress how beneficial it is to take your prenatal vitamins while TTC, during a Pregnancy, while Breastfeeding, and even during the months when you are NEITHER TTC nor Breastfeeding. Prenatal Vitamins help replenish the Vitamins and nutrients passed onto your baby. Those of us interested in having more children after this baby, would wisely consider the continual taking of this invaluable supplement... :)
Very well said, mamaemmot! I'm not ttc right now since we just had a baby in May, but we are planning to start trying again in 2012 and I've been trying to remember to take mine every day. It's a lot harder now since we aren't really trying yet. I did so much better before when we were trying and then when I was pregnant.
My OBGYN said it's best for a woman to continue taking her prenatal between pregnancies as well because pregnancy drains us of so many of our nutrients. She said continuing the prenatals helps us rebuild our stores so that we are ready for the next pregnancy if it comes or so that we just get back to a healthy state after having our babies.
I slacked off on taking mine a few months after stopping BFing DS in spring of 2010 and started taking them regularly again in January, knowing that we'd plan for a baby this year. This month I added a DHA supplement as well.
Jackie, you can talk to your doctor about it. I know several women that took chewable Flintstone's vitamins and then some additional folic acid because they couldn't stand the regular pre-natal vitamins. I think I remember hearing about a chewable or gummy pre-natal vitamin (possibly at Target), but I'm not 100% sure.
I was taking them before we got pregnant but not regularly. Now that I got my BFP I've been really good about taking them every day. It's amazing the things I can remember to do now that I have a little one growing inside me!

I started the prenatals about 4 months before ttc...I figured an extra amount of the vitamins can't hurt!

I always take prenatals because I love what they do for my hair and nails. That is really interesting about the autism correlation though.
Does anyone have any suggestions for chewable pre-natal vitamins?
