If you have a little girl, will you have her ears pierced as a baby?

Will you wait until she is older and asks for them herself?

Some people are surprised that I don't run out and have my babies pierced right away with how many piercings I have lol...
I will wait until she asks to have her ears pierced, and she will have to be old enough to be pierced by a professional with needles... guns are a no no! They can't be properly sterilized, and it's also more painful and damaging to the ear, harder to heal, to have something forced through like that rather than having a little "slit" in the ear made by the hollow needle.

Both my DDs had their ear pierce when there were 3 months old, i was lucky enough that their pediatrician dos ear piercing at her office. My 5 year old decided she doesnt like them and she hasnt use earing since she was 1 1/5 years old but my 3year old loves wearing them. If i have a another girl i might do it again at 3months.

Hmmm...I haven't given this one much thought. I think earrings on baby girls are adorable, but I like the idea of going when she's old enough to ask. I guess I'll leave it up to DH to decide, cause I don't have a preference.

I never thought about having a pro use a needle vs a gun...that is def going to be a must for me now! I'm glad you said that :)

I'll definitely wait. My DD is 20 months and we haven't done hers. I really don't want to take care of them or worry about them getting snagged on something. When she's older and wants to have it done I'll take her.

I just wanted to point out, its funny how many people are so critical of circumcision but not such an out cry with ear piercing. While I see the vast differences in invasivness, it is after all causing pain for cosmetic purposes, right?! Just ironic I thought.

well I'm against both without their consent, but piercings can be removed... it's hard to reverse circumcision... so of course I'm more against that than piercings.

The difference is that an ear piercing can be reversed and hurts for like a second.

I will not. We are going to wait with dd until she 1. Asks for it herself...and 2. Is old enough to properly care for them. Plus, I really don't like the look of little babies with earrings.
