Break out the nursing bras! More moms are saying yes to the breast.

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows the number of women breastfeeding their babies increased from 70.3 percent to 74.6 percent between 2000 and 2008, while rates for women who breast-fed for six months rose from 34.5 percent to 44.4 percent, and breastfeeding for 12 months grew from 16 percent to 23.4 percent.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends "exclusive breastfeeding for about 6 months, followed by continued breastfeeding as complementary foods are introduced, with continuation of breastfeeding for 1 year or longer as mutually desired by mother and infant."

I'm still nursing my son (he just turned two), and plan to nurse baby girl as long as possible.  It's been a wonderful experience with my son and I'm very hopeful it will be just as wonderful the second time around.

I definitely want to try breastfeeding again. With my first son it just didn't work out...he nursed in the hospital and for a day or two at home, but once the milk came in I got so engorged and was in so much pain, it was impossible to feed him. he would scream like crazy and I would be crying at the same time! Total disaster! Part of the pain was because of the nursing bra I had too, it was squeezing me to death and hurt, but I didn't realize it was the bra at first and thought it was just pain from the milk coming in. So all of that and just lack of knowledge made it not work out. This time around I plan to have a good pump to help me out and also try to stick with it and find ways to relieve pain.
