BTDT mamas- what baby items did you buy/receive for your previous children that you just didn't use?  What items sounded like a good idea but just didn't work for you?  Share with our first-time mamas as they start stocking up on baby items!

I can think of one thing right off the top of my head....   and that's the archaic advice my MIL kept throwing my way.

Also, someone gave our daughter earrings. We didn't get her ears pierced until she was 4 and that was due to her own request.

The baby bath tubs (especially the ones that sit in the sink) the baby out grows them too fast plus it is way easier to bathe the baby in your lap (better control and a calmer baby).

Diaper Genies are stinky nasty. Baby mittens just get lost and don't match anything (just use socks)...

Will think of more and post later

It's funny that so many mention that they didn't use baby bathtubs. We used ours all the time.

Definitely a wipes warmer. Never had one, never missed it.

I loved my baby bath too!  We used it all the time. We also used this diaper pail thing that wasn't the diaper genie and it worked great and really blocked odors. Thankfully, quite a few folks gave us gift cards so we didn't have to worry too much about getting things that we truly didn't need.

What about high-chairs?  We have a sorta small house, so when I registered I opted for a chair that connects to the kitchen table instead.  Will I be regretting this decision?

An actual high chair. (In response to the last comment, this works fine and is very portable.)

We used our baby bath tub but he did outgrow it quickly. Actually, it wasn't a tub, it was a sponge that he laid on. Worked great. And costed less than $10.

Wipes warmer, diaper genie. Didn't have either, never needed either. A garbage can with a lid will keep smells away. A playmat for laying on the floor and looking up. Oh man, that would have lasted about a week. As soon as they roll over, that becomes useless.

I could go on...

We had the full high chair since we had the room with my daughter, we gave the in-laws the kind that you attach to a chair so they would have it when they watched her. It ended up getting used for my nephews too so it was worth it to have for them.
