A new study suggests that women who start taking folic acid supplements either before or early in their pregnancy may reduce their child's risk of developing autism.

"The study does not prove that folic acid supplements can prevent childhood autism. But it does provide an indication that folic acid might be preventive," said study lead author Dr. Pal Suren, from the division of epidemiology at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health in Oslo.

I read about that. I thought it was interesting. When I think of Folate deficiency I immediately think of neural tube defects. So it is very important to take prenatal vitamins optimally prior to pregnancy, or as soon as you find out you're pregnant at the least. Although I was not trying to get pregnant I was alternating between taking The Rainbow Light Prenatal One Vitamin and the Nature Made Prenatal Multivitamin +DHA. I have been on a mission since August 2012 to grow my hair to my waist by December 2014.
