I have become addicted to this show but it also breaks my heart. I can't imagine giving up my lil baby. Have you watched it? Whats your opinion of the decisions these moms have made between giving up the baby for adoption and their choice in adoptive couples?

I have been watching it on Hulu.com and am addicted! I applaud those women who are strong enough to give up their children to another loving couple because they know they are unable to provide for the child at this time.

As an If this happened scenario when I was younger (16), I gave it a thought. Like IF I get pregnant before I turned 21 I think I would give the child up for adoption instead of raising them. This was sparked because my cousin got pregnant at 16, so I just wanted to think about what would I do if it happened to me as well since we are only 8 months apart.

I do have to say that my cousin's son, who she decided to keep, was probably the best thing to happen to her because having a child that early pushed her to graduate college with honors and she is happily married to someone wonderful. It just would not be something I would have been able to handle at that age.

I got pregnant at 17 and my dh (bf at the time) and I were very scared he was barely 19 and my mother hounded me to have an abortion to the point that she scheduled an abortion for me. But DH and I decided that since we did this we would have the baby and love him. I never really considered any option but keeping him. I am so glad that I didn't let my mother talk me into anything. I can't imagine life without my Drew. He was born 10lbs 8oz and has grown into quite a young man who is now taller than me! ;-;

I have never seen this show but I can't imagine being in that position. I was always extremely careful in youth to take all possible precautions to prevent it and was successful but I know many who weren't. I am pro-choice but know that I personally could not make that decision so I would have ended up looking at adoption options. I have a lot of cousins as well as dh that were a result of unplanned teen pregnancies that the mothers decided to keep and although they (the mothers) had rough lives and were forced to grow up way to soon (one cousin was 14 when she gave birth to her son) I know that none of them regret the decision to keep their babies.

That said I also think that the choice to put your child up for adoption is not an easy one and takes a lot of strength. We actually approached a teenaged cousin a few years ago about adopting her baby however she couldn't do it and opted for an abortion.
Proud Mom to Annika (4), Jamie (3), and 4 angels. Anxiously awaiting Baby #3!
