First of all, breastfeeding completely freaks me out.

I have NEVER had an orgasm while breastfeeding, or found it slightly erotic. What books are you reading?

I think the thing to have in your mind is that breastfeeding is the BIOLOGICAL NORM. Lots of body parts are used for sexual activity and eroticism, but we don't use them for only that purpose. Things like hands, mouths, etc.

I'm not saying that's not true but that sounds insane to me!! I can tell you that I NEVER felt aroused or anything like that!!

Also want to add,I bottle fed 3 out of 4 of my kids.I only BF the youngest and after my experience,I plan on at least trying this time as well. No bottles at ALL,the best sleep I got out of all of them(we co slept),and the BEST was NO stinking pukey smelling clothes!!!!! I always hated smelling formula spit up lol.OH,and of course poop doesn't smell good but his never stunk either until solid foods!

I NEVER EVER thought I would BF!!!EVER!! Just the thought of it was just....weird to me. It's not though once you do it ;) It even took hubby a little bit to get used to me BF but after a little bit,he paid it no attention. At first though,he didn't want me to.

Plus,ds was a mama's boy that entire time...15 mths ;)

I think it's a shame that society makes us feel weird to feed our own children!!! It's ridiculous! For that very reason,I never did BF in public(well one time I did),it was always in the car before I went in or a bathroom :( It'll prob be that way again, just bc ppl act so ignorant about it. I wore nursing tanks under my regular shirt as well so there were never anything to be seen.

Here's a few of the books I picked up. They're all big, well referenced, printed in many editions, written by medical people.

This link might help: http://forums.ivillage.com/t5/Newborn-to-6-mo-Questions/If-you-had-to-recommend-1-book-on-BFing/m-p/116539271#M129824

I highly recommend checking out www.kellymom.com, as well as trying to find a local La Leche League meeting. They can provide lots of practical info!

Feeling that way wouldn't really surprise or shock me. For every 'action' there is an opposite and equal 'reaction' right? ;-)

I probably feel very comfortable about BFing because nearly all mothers I was around growing up BFed - except for the very few working mothers at the time. I think the stink of a formula-fed baby also might have been a big turn-off for me. Lol. However, I still belong to the camp that believes BFing is a private thing - I'd rather leave a room than pull our some sort of cape. BFing with others in the room - now THAT freaks me out. :-)

now.....Elijah pooped NONSTOP when I BF!!!!!!!! I think formula fed babies poop less bc it's harder to digest.

It was so funny when I started bc DH always just had this "look" on his face lmao.....like he just didn't know what to do!!!

SOME breastfed babies poop less. It's ok to go 10-15 days without poop, because it's so digestible. But some continue to poop with every diaper change. At least the poop doesn't stink as much.

I think nursing in public becomes less of an issue the more you do it. It starts with a few friends and goes from there. I don't use covers (I believe they draw more attention), but just layer clothes. DS is 17 months old, and I nursed him at church Sunday.
