I know they say no news is good news, but it's been bugging me so I went ahead and called.

I would have them redo the pap. If i remember correctly, it is someone reading the results. Nobody is perfect and they see hundreds of those slides. One time years ago, i had one abnormal pap and had this really painful test and everything was fine. In retrospect, i would have retested BEFORE doing any kind of procedure. My paps have been normal ever since (knock on wood). Try not to panic!

Try not to panic. I know it is easier said than done. I agree with Christy. Ask them to redo the test is exactly what I would advise :)
Keep us posted!

my pap came back abnormal as well and I am scheduled for a colpo on the 24th. I wasn't told anything was wrong until my last appointment and the Dr. said that it may turn into cancer if we dont get it checked. It really scared me. But after I looked at the paperwork, it is the lowest level of concern hpv. I know how I got it....My ex husband had many affairs and had given me std's twice before I finally wised up and left him. It is scary, but at the moment there isn't anything that you can do and maybe for you it truly is nothing. I hadn't had a pap since I lost medical insurance two years ago and previously all came back fine. Good luck to you and keep up posted. :)

Retesting sounds like good advice to me, too. Mammograms also can give abnormal results when all is well, so I've heard. Maybe it's like freckles and moles that change - not necessarily cancer but could be an indicator? Just guessing on that comparison - it's really not my area of expertise, so all I can really offer you is my thoughts & prayers!

I don't know anything about this but I hope everything turns out fine.

Agree with the other ladies about redoing the pap. I had one come back abnormal several years ago. It was redone & turned up clear and every subsequent pap has been fine. Sometimes there are errors, false positives, etc.

I had an abnormal pap right after DS was born...my doc told me it takes years to go from normal pap to full blown cancer, so I wouldn't worry too much since last normal pap was a year ago...they will want you to be tested more often until you have several normal paps in a row; I had to be tested every 6 months unil I had 3 normal paps...I also had a biopsy after the abnormal pap, but you shouldn't have that done while pregnant...get retested now and again after baby is born, and go from there
