Sounds like my hospital roommate before I switched. Hmph but doctors? Come on. Some nurses seemed skeptical - til I puked in their wastebasket. Lol. Just know that WE are behind you and know you need those IVs. And like Mom always told me when heading to the doc: "You better look sick or they'll think you're fine!" Next time just puke in their room, and they'll have to clean it. ;-)

I wonder if there is some safe over the counter meds for nausea? What I'm taking is, and it's not specifically for pregnant people. It's called Vomex. They cost 1 Euro apiece. (Ca. $1.35)

I wish I could come down there and give that ER a piece of my mind!!! I'm so sorry for all you're going through :(

Maybe ice chips? not a lot at one time, but a few here and there through out the day can help you stay hydrated a little bit better?

I'll be the devils advocate on the nausea... if you're throwing up so much, I'd likely say the baby is growing! Have they visualized a heartrate on the baby yet?

At this point in your pregnancy the baby is using the yolk sac for nurishment, so don't worry about it not growing because you CAN'T physically eat. The point where the baby gets nurishment from you will be when it switches over to the placenta and the nausea will typically subside around the same time (My fingers are crossed it will for you!) So please don't let ignorance upset you and make you worry more. The biggest fear with dehydration in pregnancy (other than the effects on mommy!) is pre-term labor, but since we're not that far along.. I'd try my best and keep my head held high.

No one has the right to treat you that way. There should be a number you can call in (most, if not all) ER's while you're a patient for an advocate if you feel you are being mistreated or not listened to. While I understand the ER is not designed for routine care, dehydration can be seriously nasty. One thing you need to say when you go in is "I called my OB this morning, and my OB instructed me to go to the ER right away". They can't argue with another doctor can they?

If you feel comfortable, PM me the hospital

Thanks, but we don't have patient advocates here.

Let's hope the sickness will ease off soon for you :) And I agree with bringing your husband or SOMEONE with you. Another tip if a doctor gives you a serious hard time, ask him to repeat his name, and write it down... lol that freaks them out sometimes ;-) This baby should be grounded until he/she is 21 for causing mommy so many problems so early!
