Hypertension During Pregnancy

When I went for my OB appointment last week my blood pressure was a bit high-125/90. The doctor said not to worry at this point, that we will monitor. So I have been checking it and it has been above the normal 120/80 all week .Today was 137/87.

Prior to pregnancy I had perfect BP 115/75. My last pregnancy it was always 100/70 or lower then the last week of pregnancy

My Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor said Labetalol is safe for pregnancy and I am on a low dose. My BP is doing great right now but I will be monitored for BP issues throughout the pregnancy. My doctor did say that at our stage of pregnancy, your blood pressure is usually lower and increases around 28 weeks. I think that is what she said. I don't think your numbers are super high but it is something to keep an eye on.

Good luck. Hopefully your BP will stabilize and be fine.

Your increase in numbers matters as much as the numbers themselves.

It's nice to see that you didn't require medication. Hopefully it stays low this tiem too,as I think you have enough on your plate already :smileywink:

I have been encouraged by the counsellor at motherrisk to drink a few bottles of Gatorade a day just to keep my electrolytes up.I probably shouldn't because of the sodium in them.

I'm no expert, but tons of Gatorade doesn't sound like the best idea... Electrolytes are a category of minerals.

Mine have been up there and my doc has been already running urine (24 hours etc) I think she's being overly cautious. I have changed my diet and hoping monday when I go the numbers are better.
