I hate my gallbladder!

My gallbladder pain keeps getting worse.  Diet isn't controlling it anymore.  I've been in pain since 11 last night (13 1/2 hours ago!) It's the second super long attach this week.  I've been to the ER, they phoned my midwife then gave me Percocet, but it isn't helping much.  They did an ultrasound and said I have several gallstones, the largest is 1 inch, and that it won't get better until I have my gallbladder removed.  But the ER doc said surgery isn't an option now, it could hurt the baby.  So I just have to tough out the pain.

Anyone else have horrible gallstone pain?  Is there any other safe medicine to try?  I have prescription Percocet to last a few days, then see my midwife.  But I'm tempted to call and ask for something stronger if it won't hurt the baby.

I don't have gallbladder issues but I want to say that I am sorry you have to go through this. It doesn't sound fun at all. I hope they can give you something stronger for pain management. Hugs.........

Ugh! I was really hoping things were better for you. Definitely call your midwife. Why would surgery be more dangerous now than it would have been earlier?

It still hurts so I called my midwife.  She won't prescribe anything stronger.  She recommended an appointment with the surgeon.  So I meet with him in the morning.  We'll see if he thinks surgery is dangerous or if I can take anything stronger.

Good luck tomorrow. Keep us posted! I'm not sure what outcome you are hoping for, but I think if there were no risk to baby that I'd want the thing out. I hate taking medicine though, even Tylenol unless I'm hurting pretty bad.

I want the thing out!  We're going on 24 hours straight of pain, it won't end.  I can't even drink water now without making it worse.  So all the stress hormones and lack of nutrition aren't good for baby at all.  They monitored my in labor and delivery last night for an hour and baby is doing fine for now, but I just want this over with!

I can relate to gallbladder pain but not while being pregnant, sorry.  I had it last year before I got the stupid thing removed in October, so I have an idea of what your going through, I was on morphine when I had it though, I was in and out of the ER 6 times in a couple of weeks before I demanded they do an ultrasound, which is when they found the stones.  2 weeks later I had surgery.  It got to the point where I could not eat anything at all without setting it off.  I find it silly that they cant prescribe you anything stronger because I have been given some pretty strong stuff for the pelvic pain I have, Im not sure what its equivalent would be where you are, but here its called Panadiene, its a codiene based drug and considered a Category A drug for pregnancy.

I wish they'd give me a better drug!  Percocet is pregnancy category C, because the oxycodone in it makes the baby have drug withdrawal at birth.  And it doesn't work much.  I read online that muscle relaxers might work for the pain, I plan on asking the doctor today about it.

You should be able to take Flexeril during pregnancy (a muscle relaxer), hopefully they'll give it to you & it will provide some relief. Sorry you're going through this right now.
