Oh, pregnancy weight gain.
Angela - CL Sept 2012 Apple Blossoms - Wife to Andy, Mom to Lily (4), Aiden (1), and Braelynn born 7.27.12
With my first, I gained 48 lbs.
I quit smoking when I found out I was pregnant and gained a LOT (15 lbs)
Nah, it's not cheating.
I was 145lbs when I got pregnant with my daughter 9 years ago and only gained 12lbs with her - it was a bad, bad pregnancy. This time I started at 150lbs (which is about 5lbs overweight for me- my healthy weight is 140-145) and I have gained 0.5lbs so far, I am 14 weeks. I am hoping to gain about 20-25 lbs but I will be surprised if I even get to 20lbs- it isn't for lack of trying - I eat every few hours.
I don't remember where I started with DS, but I gained 36lbs with him, a lot of it also due to water retention and pre-e at the end (I gained 9 lbs in a week once!). So far, I'm down 2 lbs this pregnancy. I started at 138 and at my 14 week appt last Wednesday, I weighed 136. I lost everything after DS, and was down to 124 at one point, but I gave myself a license to eat after seeing that number - haha! Anyway, doc says not to lose any more weight, but I'm just not hungry. I nibble at meals and usually don't snack. The only thing I do differently is drink at least one glass of milk a day. I have this theory that a lot of osteoporosis in old age is caused from lack of calcium during pregnancy. I don't know if there's medical research behind it, but it just makes sense to me b/c baby is going to take the calcium he/she needs from somewhere, kwim?
I'm hoping to gain between 23-26lbs this pregnancy, but I really need to start eating better and walking more. I have done some walking, and I'm starting to take advantage of my employer's exercise program (you get off 30 minutes early 3x a week if you will exercise). I really have no reason not to!
My doctor told me at my last appointment (week 16) I hadn't gained any weight yet!
