Experts, including the Duke University researchers, are quick to caution that there are often overriding medical reasons to induce or augment labor that should not be ignored because of any potential risk of autism.

I saw this headline yesterday and it kind of freaked me out a bit since I was induced with both my boys (for medical reasons - HELLP syndrome). My youngest son has hyperlexia, which is considered to be on the "spectrum" by some doctors.

This new finding concerns me but mostly I agree with the study's author who said: ""Autism risk is likely a cumulative effect of many genes and many environmental effects"
