Hello everyone!

I am a 29-year-old female, and I've never been pregnant before. My boyfriend and I are serious, in fact we talk about marriage all the time. We haven't been using condoms but pulling out very strategically, because not using a condom helps us both climax stronger. I can't use hormonal birth control because I had a blood clot from the pill when I was 23.

I had my period about 3 weeks ago, very lightly for only a few days. The past 3-4 days, I've experienced heavy bleeding like a heavy period with huge blood clots and other matter passing out of me. I thought maybe I was having some mid-cycle bleeding but it's so heavy and crampy that it feels like something else to me. Intuitively, I feel like it is something more than a period. Could it possibly be a miscarriage this early after having my period a few weeks ago? All insights and advice appreciated. Thanks!

It's so hard to say.  It could be possible that you did have a miscarriage, and that the period you had a few weeks ago could have just been early pregnancy bleeding.  It also could be that your hormones were a bit out of whack and your body is shedding all the lining that remained after your light period.    Have you noticed any pregnancy symptoms such as sore breasts, nausea, tiredness, etc.?

If you are concerned, you might want to give your ob/gyn a call.  They could run a test to see if there are any pregnancy hormones in your body.   Even if you weren't pregnant, might be a good idea to discuss this abnormal period with them if it is something you haven't experienced before.   Please keep us posted on how you are doing.
