Since the death of my son, I have helped families struggle through planning funerals and deal with the loss of their child.

One of the best things a friend did for me after our loss was offering to go grocery shopping with me. I could not imagine seeing anyone who knew or especially those who didn't know and having her there as a buffer was exactly what I needed. I also had another friend who continued to send cards for a long time after it seemed like everyone else had forgotten. Those are the two things that I think meant the most to me.

I hated it when people said "it just wasn't suppose to happen right now"..... Um totally unhelpful!
